The public order field service is out and about throughout the city every day. In addition to routine checks, the employees carry out a wide range of tasks based on information from the city community.

In addition to disturbances of the peace, stray or loose dogs, illegal waste disposal, restaurant inspections and a wide range of other incidents, the employees provide support in other dangerous situations.

The traffic monitoring staff are responsible for controlling stationary road traffic. This takes place in daily pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle lanes. This includes the punishment of parking violations.

The district investigation service carries out local investigations and enforcement measures by the regulatory authority in the city districts. The employees are present in the districts on a daily basis and are available as the first point of contact for acute concerns in order to ensure rapid remedial action in the best case scenario.

The Citizens' Services of the City of Bonn have a central operations control center for the municipal public order service (public order field service, traffic field service and Bonn city center joint contact point "GABI").

The staff can be reached on 0228 773333 from Monday to Friday between 7 am and 1 am. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, they are available from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

The control center accepts concerns about emergency response, ensuring and improving safety, order and cleanliness in the city and many other issues. The employees take up the request and take the necessary measures to avert danger - if necessary in cooperation with other departments.

As part of the "Clean City" campaign, there is a team of municipal employees responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of public streets, paths, squares and green spaces in the city districts ("SET" - Rapid Response Team) in addition to the city cleaning service provided by Bonnorange AöR and the green maintenance service provided by the Office for the Environment and Urban Greenery.

The team thus supplements the routine tasks carried out in the areas of city cleaning and green maintenance.

Since June 3, 2022, employees of the security service and the GABI police station have been wearing so-called body cams during their operations. The recording devices are used to preserve evidence in dangerous operational situations and are intended to further improve the safety of employees.

The variety of tasks and number of deployments of the public order service and the GABI police station have been increasing for years. More and more frequently, there are also operations in which employees are threatened, attacked and sometimes injured. For this reason, in addition to the protective equipment already in place, they wear recording devices on duty, similar to those used by the state police.

In the summer months, the number of police officers will be significantly increased due to the increased volume of work, especially in the evenings and at weekends, in order to be able to respond to the diverse concerns of citizens. Particularly busy areas such as the Hofgartenwiese, the banks of the Rhine and the area around Poppelsdorf Allee will also be targeted more closely.

Regulatory offenses such as disturbances of the peace will be consistently punished here, for example by fines to be paid immediately on the spot.
