Every year, the Open Monument Day offers visitors a varied program on cultural heritage in the city - from Roman times to post-war monuments. The cooperation of many different stakeholders is required to make the topic of monument protection accessible to a broad public.

The motto "Valuable: priceless or irreplaceable?" combines various intentions: It is about high-quality historical furnishings, elaborate craftsmanship and special relics that provide unique access to the past. However, it also refers to the added value that heritage conservation can offer society and the debate about what should be considered valuable and therefore worth preserving.
Further information
The motto offers local organizers many possible interpretations, but it is not mandatory to refer to it. The German Foundation for Monument Protection has compiled further suggestions at www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de/motto (opens in a new tab).
