This is a press release from MMP Event GmbH.
"It's great that we have set a new record this year with 18,000 registrations. As the largest sporting event in Bonn, the Deutsche Post Marathon is a flagship event for our sports city. The registration figures show that people from Bonn and the region really enjoy exercise and community sport. As a city, it is important to us to inspire as many people as possible to do just that - and the marathon sets an excellent example," said Mayor Katja Dörner. She also thanked Deutsche Post, the organizer MMP and all employees of the city administration, who once again contributed to the success of the event with their commitment.
Deutsche Post: Great participation, strong commitment to young athletes and Bonn clubs
Long-standing title partner Deutsche Post also showed its strong commitment to the event and the city with over 1,100 running colleagues. "For us, the Deutsche Post Marathon Bonn is much more than just a sporting event - it is a symbol of cohesion, team spirit and social commitment," says Benjamin Rasch, Chief Marketing Officer Post & Parcel Germany. "It makes us proud that we as a company were not only actively involved with so many colleagues, but were also able to support sport in Bonn through various charity campaigns."
Deutsche Post is particularly keen to promote young athletes. This year, 1,800 students from 64 schools took part in the Deutsche Post School Marathon - 700 more than last year. Thanks to Deutsche Post's support, participation is free for all schools. "It's great to see the enthusiasm with which the young runners compete here," says Rasch, "Sport unites - and it's a matter close to our hearts to give children and young people the opportunity to be part of this special event."
Deutsche Post is also committed to Bonn's sports clubs: Runners* could once again run over the donation mat on the course and donate three euros for popular sports in Bonn. Deutsche Post generously rounded up the amount. In recent years, over 300,000 euros have already been raised for local sport - this year, around 25,000 euros are expected to be added again.
Thanks to the organizer: "An event like this is only possible together"
Marathon organizer Christian Okon, Managing Director of MMP Event, is also very positive about the event: "The record numbers and the incredible atmosphere show how firmly anchored this marathon is in Bonn. It's fantastic to see how sport brings people together."
Okon emphasizes that an event of this magnitude is only possible with the support of many: "My special thanks go to the city of Bonn, the many trades involved, our volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly, and of course the thousands of athletes who started here today. And a big thank you goes to our partners - first and foremost to Deutsche Post, which supports us as a reliable title partner with great commitment and makes this marathon possible year after year."
Continuation assured: Deutsche Post remains title partner
And there is more good news for all runners: Deutsche Post and the organizing agency MMP have extended their cooperation - which means that the Deutsche Post Marathon Bonn will continue to take place in the coming years. The date for the next big running event has already been set: the Deutsche Post Marathon Bonn 2026 will take place on April 19.
